I like the reboot that IDW is doing. The GI Joe brand needed a kick in the pants. Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of the little dudes since that fateful day back in 1982 when I picked up a couple figures and the Ram at a local K-Mart. After opening them and messing with them a little, I went in and bought all of the other figures that were available. Been hooked pretty bad ever since. I was 19 then, so I guess I'm a bit of a "senior" collector.
To bog down the line and keep it stuck in the 80's continuity is a disservice to the line. It needs a new look, a new feel, a new edge to give it life. Hasbro, of course, doesn't have to consider IDW's stuff to be "official", but what actually is "official" for Hasbro? Resolute? That would have been nice. Rise of Cobra - I'd rather not. Renegades? A better choice, but thanks for the hiatus, big H. The next movie? Can we get something established here, Hasbro?
The issue of established characters being introduced and then quickly being killed off - Grandslam and Barbecue come to mind quickly - is rough, but IDW's series is much more "realistic" in that these guys are soldiers and soldiers die in combat. Cold blooded but unfortunately very true.
One of my favorite Sunbow cartoons was the one where Slipstream and the female Cobra pilot, Raven, get trapped on an island together fighting a bad Mindbender experiment. They have to work together and eventually get off the island together after Cobra abandons her to her fate. Great story for this episode!
Keep up the great work, guys!

So when they killed Barbecue did they shoot him in the back pack and then he burst into flames? That would be cool. That's why I like pyro troopers.
