JoeLanta is just a week away. Anyone planning on attending?

I'll be there! I look forward to Joelanta every year. I may possibly bring my defiant Complex with me. Well, it will be in my car - a little tough to carry around!
My Defiant Complex is in decent shape, but I really think that it needs a good home where it can get the care and attention that it deserves.

Totally understandable. Though if your not a 12" collector, I wouldn't really recommend going if it's more than a 6 hour trip. Good show, but JoeLanta is 12 inchers, Joe Con is 4 inchers.

Well, those that didn't go, missed out. JoeLanta 2012 was awesome.

The show has doubled in size since 2010. I'm really not exaggerating there, it's was just shy of twice the size. They added an extra hallway, and a 2nd room that's about 2/3rd's the size of the main room. There was a dealer there from Scotland, and another that I think was from Spain? Between the 2 of them they had almost as much Palitoy Action Force inventory as you tend to see at Joe Con. The guy from Spain I thought was overpriced, but not too bad. The guy from Scotland was awesome. He was funny, personable, and gave me a fantastic deal on a nearly perfect Action Force Sea Lion, and a series 1 American Paratrooper. And I though his prices were pretty well amazing as it was. The Sea Lion even had a Space Force figure inside. Incidentally, it's about half the size I thought it would be.

I have a lot of 12" dealer friends, and 3 3/4" friends that showed up, so I had PLENTY of people to talk to. Roma Toys was there, and several other 3 3/4" dealers that I didn't know. Lots more 3 3/4" Joe's there this year.

I finally thought to get a sketch from Larry Hama. It was a bit sad compared to Joe Con because he never had a line. He usually had someone talking to him, but there was never a crowd.

Tom Fiester from IDW was there again. Got a great Storm Shadow sketch from him.

Really funny thing happened. Feister had one of the Zombie actors from Walking Dead at the table next to him. I could care less about meeting some background Zombie. As soon as we mentioned Micronauts he jumped into the conversation. He was more interested in talking to me than I was in talking to him. Not that he was a bad guy or anything, I just thought the reversal was really funny. Next time I walked by he waved me over and asked me a bunch of Micronaut questions.

I was spending money very sparingly, never-the-less, I got several really good deal's and came home with a lot more than I expected to.

Sounds like a fun time, I'll certainly have to put this show on my list hot spots. :) So roughly how many people do you think were there?

Really hard to say. The line in the morning before the show opened was about 200 people. I'd say about 50 dealers. The place stayed pretty crowed all day. I would guess somewhere around a 1000? I have no solid numbers though.

Incidentally a closely associated group is planing another show in the next month or so. It will be called the Great Atlanta Toy Show. No date set yet.
