Basically a Data-Viper is a contingency variable of sorts... say a Cobra base is destroyed... the Data-Viper transmits all the info and files etc of that Cobra base to another Data-Viper at another location. I tried to convince Warden he should be writing the file cards or at least doing a dossier for characters because he really has thought out the backstory for all of these new characters to an amazing extent.

The figure itself is astonishing. It's like a mech-suit and a Jungle-Viper had a kid.

I envision the zombies going haywire and revolting and usurping Cobra Island from
the inside and the Data-Vipers as a last defense.

I agree 100%. I think the Data Viper is one of the coolest ideas for a new figure that Hasbro has done in a while. I really think the stuff debuted at the Joe Con and at Toy Fair is quite impressive!

I think you're right, he should be writting the filecards if there's this much thought put behind the figures.

As for the Data Viper itself, my first impression was it's pretty bland. I've taken a second look at it and I think it's just the colors that make it a little bland. The sculpt is better than I originally thought and there's some potential there. I think I'd like to see it without the head equipment too

These are the awesome details I love to hear. Some Cobra "last line of defense". What a great concept. Personally, I never would have considered the Data-Vipers for that sort of role, but it's great.

Love it.

I should write the filecards. :)

I don't really like the look of them. Too top heavy. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea though. Prior to hearing what Warden meant for 'em. I figured they were just "portable" drone operators. I LOVEX50 the drone. That rocks.

The Data Vipers did indeed look pretty bad ass. But the Zombie Viper is honestly a joke. Zombies have no place in GIJoe. Even the designers said at the convention that they made it as a joke but marketing liked it and decided to go forward with it.

Data-Vipers and Zombie-Vipers were the biggest surprises. For me it seemed Hasbro raised the bar with the data-viper, I think they really tried to slowly take everything to a new level. Thinking outside the box with the zombies was cool also with the blue things sticking out of their backs. Again I think Hasbro is taking some things on a new direction and if they can create Serpentor and Bio-vipers then it was only a matter of time for the zombies to hit the shelves. I don’t army build anything but I see a set of six zombies in my display.

But seriously where is the croc-master love?

I like the fact that a couple years in a row now, John has worked outside of office time on a pet project of his own that turns out to be one of the most interesting new characters in the line for the year. Jungle Viper then Shadow Tracker and now Data-Viper.
