What makes this thing so dang expensive? I mean, I really think we'll get a modern era Night Boomer now that the Skystriker is (soon to be) coming out. But why is the orignal so dang expensive? Low production run? TRU exclusivity? What?

I think both of your guesses (Low production, TRU Exclusive) are the main factors into why any of the Night Force vehicles sell better than their regular counterparts (Although I think Low Production may be innaccurate as it may just be more of many went unsold and then were possibly destroyed? I'm not 100% sure what happened to old stock back then)

Anyway, add those factors to the desirability of the Skystriker mold and you have a very expensive jet.

I have noticed that the larger Night Force vehicles are much more expensive and harder to come by. I tend to think that fewer of the larger vehicles were produced back in the day. This would make sense since they would be more expensive on the shelf and parents are usually reluctant to spend too much money on toys. But yeah, the Night Boomer and the Night Striker are the most expensive. I can understand the Night Striker more because of the number of fragile parts. The Boomer just seems to be uncommon although the eBay sellers out there tend to ask way too much for it. I was fortunate enough to get an incomplete one from a friend recently for a really good price. It is only missing the seats and the canopy for which I temporary have Skystriker parts in place until I get the real ones someday.

The TRU exclusive part of it is why it is rarer. TRU wasn't in every town like they are now so fewer kids were able to get it. Then you add in the fact that kids still played with toys and you end up with an even smaller percentage that are complete. I've seen ab out a dozen over the years and only one complete.

Oh yeah, so true. In Indy, Children's Palace was the place.

In the Chicago market the 3 TRU's that were close my me, ended up clearancing most of the Night Force Vehicles...I still have my Night Ray that I paid 16.99 for. I was lucky to have BOTH TRU and CP/CW, so I was able to get some the exclusives they offered. Target and Walmart didnt show up until ARAH was at an end.
