This was my third JoeCon. The first two, I stayed at the con hotel. Both times I thought the hotels were overpriced. Large hotels like that will nickle and dime guests on everything. I just don't see this as beneficial for attendees that want to spend money at the con but get raped by the hotel. I really believe Brian and/or Hasbro should be more considerate of the attendees when choosing the hotel.

Here's an idea, pick a place that is separate from the hotel. I'm sure the logistics are not easy but the less money the hotel takes from the attendees, the more that may go to the club.

I dont know, the Hotel In Frisco, Texas was actually very good! with the free Breakfast with omlette bar, and the free happy hour, it still was the best hotel we had for the last 6 years.

Con Hotels:

2003 - SF Embassy Suites - It was ok. It was my first con and spent WAY too much time in the rooms. I did have a nice view of the jumbo jets landing at SFO though. Convention hall was right next to the check in area, so everything was pretty contained.
2004 - Contemporary Resort - I always wanted to stay in the Contemporary. I was sadly disappointed. My room looked and felt every bit the 30+ year age of the hotel. I hate in-your-face Disney and this was hotel was full of it. It was also a hike from my room to the convention hall.
2005 - Minneapolis Marriott City Center - I can't think of anything bad about this hotel, but I can't think of anything good either. The convention hall was at the bottom and my room was at the top. I don't remember the walking being too horribly long. The downtown mall was dead though.
2006 - Sheraton New Orleans Hotel - I had a room that was so high you could get a nose bleed. I do remember picking up all my gear, going ALL the way up to my room, only to have the key not work. Other than that, I can't recall anything remarkable about this one.
2007 - Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel - A lot like the Minneapolis and NoLA cons. Your room was up and the convention hall was directly down. Again, nothing remarkable.
2008 - Embassy Suites Dallas-Frisco/Hotel & Convention Center - Most everyone seemed to like this site. Mall across the street. Free breakfast. Happy hour. Some rooms had separate sitting areas and sleeping areas. It was a bit of a hike to the convention hall, but everyone seems to like this site.
2009 - Hyatt Regency Crown Center Kansas City - The attached mall was a small hike to get to. Nothing really nearby. Hall wasn't too far from the rooms. Nothing really remarkable.
2010 - Westin Providence Hotel - There was an attached mall. The "cooling box" refrigerators were a joke. Again, another small hike to the convention hall from the rooms. We were neither over or underwhelmed by this hotel.
2011 - Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort - MY room was great. We were in the center tower. The room was rather large IMHO. The windows faced the Magic Kingdom so the kiddo could watch the fireworks every night. The walk was a long one to the convention hall though.
