I've seen that tie before. Are we certain it's unproduced? Has this one ever been on eBay?

Well I was using the term "unproduced" a bit lightly... more like "not mass produced and unreleased."
I mean there obviously stands a chance that a Hasbro employee had one and it ended up on ebay.
G. Wayne Miller obviously received his from Hasbro. His impression was that it was not produced/released.

That being said, YOU are the expert in this arena of merchandise Mr. Goofateer. So you tell me. heheh.

I have one of those ties. My wife bought it for me around '93/94. Though she thinks she got it in Tulsa, O.K. But she knows she did not buy it in a dept. store. She does not think it was more then $20. I wore the tie at a couple of the first JoeCon dinners. And remember getting asked where I got it from.

Those shoes are the bomb. I know most collectors would put them in a glass case or something, but I would wear the ever loving crap out of them.

excellent episode, maybe the best one so far. I loved info and talk on extreme and savage. Extreme did get one thing right, a new toon. As a kid i always wanted the action figures to match what i saw on TV, I loved Joes like Flint and Beachead, so i was less interested in buying star brigade guys whom i knew nothing about. (i didn't discover the comic to later sadly, so that didn't help either)

This was a very interesting episode. There's an underlying discussion topic that is coming up more often nowadays: are action figures appealing to today's kids? I see it with my own kid, as she gets older she seems more interested in video games than toys. "Skylanders" is an interesting and successful blend, but I asked a friend's kid if he'd play with the figures outside of the game and he said not really. But, they don't even have 5-POA, so Joe is still doing better there.

Will action figures evolve into only 2 groups: the 5-and-under Fisher Price Imaginext-style versus collector-oriented super-articulated models? The Star Wars Black figures (and maybe the GIJoe Micro Force?) seem to hint at this movement. While 3 3/4" figures may not disappear tomorrow, they may not survive another generation. But then, 12" Joe pretty much had the same experience in the '80s.
